Beginning March 1, Etsy will withhold Personal Income Tax (PIT) and Value Added Tax (VAT) where applicable from Vietnamese sellers and remit it to the Vietnamese tax authorities in accordance with local requirements.
To ensure the correct tax treatment is applied, sellers in Vietnam must review their information on the Legal and Tax Information page in Shop Manager and update it if needed by March 1, 2026.
Etsy uses the information you provide to report and remit taxes to Vietnamese authorities and may periodically validate it to confirm it’s accurate. If incorrect or incomplete information is provided, we may not be able to properly calculate, report, and remit taxes and you will be responsible for correcting any incorrect reporting and/or withholding with the local taxing authority. Additionally, we may need to take action on your shop, including placing it in Vacation Mode or suspending selling privileges.
We recommend double-checking that your name and taxpayer address matches your name and address used for your tax filings in Vietnam.

What information does Etsy report to the Vietnamese tax authorities?
Etsy provides the Vietnamese tax authorities details of the transactions sellers make on the Etsy platform on a monthly basis. The information reported includes your tax information and details of the transactions carried out via the platform.
How can I keep track of the withheld amounts?
For any eligible sales, you can view withheld amounts in your Payment account. You’ll see a line item in your Recent activities for the amount of taxes withheld. You’ll also see the withholding tax categories in your Activity summary.
What happens to withheld taxes if an order is refunded or cancelled?
If an order is refunded or cancelled within the same calendar month the transaction took place (for example, an order placed on January 15 is canceled or refunded on January 29), Etsy will refund the withheld tax amount to your Payment account.
If an order is refunded or cancelled after the calendar month in which the transaction took place (for example, an order placed on January 15 is canceled or refunded on February 1), Etsy systems will not automatically refund the withheld tax amount to your Payment account. Please see Etsy's Fees & Payments Policy for more information.
