Purchasing with Multi-Shop Checkout

The multi-shop checkout feature allows you to purchase from multiple sellers in a single Etsy transaction. To use multi-shop checkout, the shops you’re purchasing from must accept Etsy Payments.

Etsy Payments explained

Etsy Payments is Etsy’s payment processing tool that allows Etsy sellers to accept credit card payments, PayPal, and various other payment methods including Apple Pay, Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits, and bank transfers from certain countries.

There are a couple of ways you can tell if a shop accepts Etsy Payments:

  • When you’re looking at an item, check out the area above the Add to basket button. If you see This shop accepts Etsy Gift Cards, then it’s an Etsy Payments shop.
  • When searching for an item on Etsy, you can filter for shops that accept Etsy Payments. After performing a search, check Accepts Etsy gift cards under Ordering options on the left side of the Search results.

PayPal and multi-shop checkout

PayPal sets a limit of 10 shops in a single transaction when paying with PayPal. If you’d like to purchase from more than 10 shops, you’ll need to use a credit or debit card instead.

If you’d still rather use PayPal, you can move items to the saved for later section of your basket. This feature allows you to complete purchases at a later time. Any remaining items can then be purchased with additional transactions.

Some sellers accept payments through their own standalone PayPal accounts, and not through Etsy Payments. This is why, when paying with PayPal, you may see that some purchases are grouped together for multi-shop checkout, and some are not.

For the non-Etsy Payments PayPal shops, you’ll have to complete separate transactions to make your purchases.

What your basket will look like

In your basket, items that are eligible for multi-shop checkout will be grouped together at the top.

Next to each item (or shop grouping, if you have more than one item from a seller), you’ll see the subtotal for that shop as well as the postage subtotal.

If you’re interested in purchasing a delivery upgrade, make sure to look at each seller in your basket to see if they offer this feature. If they do, you’ll see a dropdown menu that says Standard Delivery.

If you decide you only want to buy from one seller in your multi-shop basket, you can click the Check out only from this shop button.

You’ll find all your other items below your multi-shop checkout items. You can purchase them with separate transactions, or add them to saved for later.

Multiple delivery addresses

If you need separate delivery addresses for individual items that you're buying, you'll have to purchase them in separate transactions. You can do that by moving some items to saved for later until you're ready to check out.

Coupon codes

When using multi-shop checkout, you can enter multiple coupon codes while checking out.

Some sellers might offer the same coupon code by coincidence (this happens when sellers use common coupon codes). This could result in a coupon being applied to various shops.

Also, there’s a chance that the last coupon code you enter could override a previously entered one. You may have to re-enter your codes in a different order until you get the desired result.

Buying Etsy Gift Cards

You won't be able to buy an Etsy Gift Card in a multi-shop transaction. You'll have to purchase the gift card separately.

If your card is declined

A multi-shop purchase is processed as one transaction by your debit/credit card or Paypal account. If your payment is declined, the entire transaction will fail.

If you've reached your bank's limit, you’ll need to reduce the amount of your transaction. You can do this by moving some items to the saved for later section of your basket.

After a purchase

After submitting your order, you'll see a confirmation page. You’ll then receive a notification email from Etsy for each shop that you purchased from.

Remember that even though your items were purchased at the same time, they’ll dispatch separately from different sellers. If you have a question about your order status, make sure to contact the seller of the specific item(s) you’re wondering about.

You can either click the Contact button in the email receipt for that shop or go to You > Purchases and reviews, find the order and click Contact The Shop next to the shop/item you have a question about.
