How to Offer Personalised Listings

On Etsy, you can help your buyers personalise items by turning on Personalisation from the listing page. Personalisation helps buyers let you know what they want to be personalised on an item, like an engraving or pattern.

You can also offer listing variations, like colour or size, or custom listings.

How to enable personalisation for listings

You can enable personalisation on items in your shop. Personalisation requires buyers to let you know what they want to be personalised on an item.

To enable personalisation for a listing:

  1. Sign in to Etsy.com.
  2. Click Shop Manager.
  3. Click Listings.
  4. Click a listing you want to add personalisation to.
  5. Under Inventory and pricing, toggle Personalisation to On.
  6. Next to Guidelines for buyers, add text to help the buyer know what details to add, like the engraving or pattern they want personalised for this item.
  7. Check Optional if personalisation isn’t required for this listing. Optional personalisation is currently in beta. This feature is currently only available to some Etsy shoppers. We’re working on making it fully available soon.
  8. Click Publish.

To enable personalisation for multiple listings:

  1. Sign in to Etsy.com.
  2. Click Shop Manager.
  3. Click Listings.
  4. Check the box for the listings you want to add personalisation to.
  5. Click Editing options.
  6. Click Edit personalisation.
  7. Toggle Personalisation to On.
  8. Next to Guidelines for buyers, add text to help the buyer know what details to add, like the engraving or pattern they want personalised for this item. This guideline will be the same for each listing you selected.
  9. Check Optional if personalisation isn’t required for these listings. Optional personalisation is currently in beta. This feature is currently only available to some Etsy shoppers. We’re working on making it fully available soon.
  10. Click Apply.

For the buyer, the required personalisation field appears on the listing card with the other options for that listing, like colour or quantity.

When a buyer requests a personalised item, you see the personalisation request on the Orders page and in the email you receive about their order.
