On Etsy, you can help your buyers personalise items by turning on Personalisation from the listing page. Personalisation helps buyers let you know what they want to be personalised on an item, like an engraving or pattern.
You can also offer listing variations, like colour or size, or custom listings.
How to enable personalisation for listings

- Choose Listings.
- Select a listing you want to add personalisation to.
- Under Inventory and pricing, toggle Personalisation to On.
- Next to Instructions for buyers, add text to help the buyer know what details to add, like the engraving or pattern they want personalised for this item.
- Check Personalisation is optional if personalisation isn’t required for this listing.
- Choose Apply.
To enable personalisation for multiple listings:

- Choose Apply.
How to photograph personalised listings
When listing personalised or customised commercial items (such as monogrammed or engraved accessories), your first image must show a finished, customised item similar to what buyers will receive. It’s prohibited to use a photo of the blank product or a mockup with placeholder text (e.g. “Your Text Here”) as the main image.
You may use an example of your similar previous work to give your buyers the most accurate idea of what their custom-made items will look like when they’re completed. When using photographs of previous work with options for customisation (like colour choices), make it clear in your description that the photos shown are just examples.
Mockups and images created with the aid of computer software may be used in the additional listing images to give buyers examples of customisation options.
See our Listing Image Requirements for more information.
For the buyer, the required personalisation field appears on the listing card with the other options for that listing, like colour or quantity.
When a buyer requests a personalised item, you see the personalisation request on the Orders page and in the email you receive about their order.
