Why Is My Listing Inactive?

Here are some of the most common reasons you may not be able to locate a listing which was previously active in your shop:

Your listing expired

A listing stays active for four months. If your listing doesn't sell during that time, and you haven’t set it to automatically renew, it expires. 

To find your expired listing:

  1. On Etsy.com, open Shop Manager.
  2. Choose Listings.
  3. Under Listing status, select Expired.

When you list a new item, it's set to automatically renew as the default. If you prefer, you can select Manual as your renewal setting while creating, editing, or renewing a listing, or selecting multiple listings and choosing Editing options. Learn more about renewing expired listings

It's possible you deactivated the listing

Double-check your inactive items:

  1. On Etsy.com, open Shop Manager.
  2. Choose Listings.
  3. Under Listing status, select Inactive.

You can renew any inactive listings to make them active.

The item sold out

Check if your item sold out:

  1. On Etsy.com, open Shop Manager.
  2. Choose Orders & Delivery. You can find sold out listings in your Sold orders.

If you have more of an item stocked, you can renew your sold out listing.

Etsy may have removed the listing for violating site policy

If a listing violates Etsy’s policies, we may remove it. If a listing is removed, your shop may remain open and able to accept orders (as long as your account has not been suspended for other reasons). 

Check your email for a message from Etsy. Be sure to look in your spam or junk mail.

Your shop may be suspended

The problem may not be with your listings, but with your shop. If your shop is suspended, depending on the reason, you may have received an email from Etsy or there may be a message about the suspension on your shop Dashboard. Check your email for a message from Etsy. Be sure to look in your spam and junk mail.

If a listing violates Etsy’s policies, we may remove it.

Check your email inbox for a message from Etsy. In the email you received about this listing(s), you’ll have instructions for next steps, depending on the reason for removing your listing.

If you’re unable to locate an email about your listing:

  • Make sure you’re using the email address registered with the shop that the listing was associated with
  • Check your spam or junk mail

Because of the category of items sold in your shop, you may have received an email from Etsy about our updated policy on images depicting minors. Listings with images that do not comply with this policy will be removed beginning 11 September.

Etsy Support can not give guidance on whether a listing image complies with the updated policy. Please see our policy page to learn more.

The quickest way to resolve a listing that was removed by Etsy for violating our Mature Content Policy is to create a new listing for this item that meets the guidelines below.

If you’d like to have us reinstate the removed listing, you can edit it to meet our policy and let us know once it’s ready. Contact us below and choose the option Etsy removed it because of a violation of our mature content policy (nudity and/or sexual imagery). It may take up to approximately 7 days for our agents to review your changes and reply.

View your listings deactivated by Etsy.

When we deactivate listings for violating this policy, the listing fee(s) are refunded to your Payment account.

While Etsy supports sellers' creative freedom and personal expression, we want to keep our marketplace appropriate for a general audience.

Per our Mature Content Policy, certain nudity and sexual imagery are permitted on Etsy, but items depicting human genitalia, sexual activity, and certain other kinds of explicit content must be presented appropriately.

This means:

  • Your first listing image should be family-friendly. Mature content must be entirely removed, censored, or cropped so that it isn’t visible in the thumbnails of your first photos.
  • Subsequent images may show the content uncensored.

Depending on the reason your account was suspended, you may see a banner in your Shop Manager Dashboard displaying the status of your shop, and you may have also received an email from Etsy with details about the state of your account.
