When you buy on Etsy, you're purchasing from individual shops. If you have any questions about an item or order, reach out to the seller.

Step 1: Add an item to your cart.
When you find an item you want to buy, follow these steps:
- Click Add to cart on the item listing page.
- If the item you want to purchase has options to choose from—like size, color, or shape—you will have to select each option before you can add it to your cart.
Get to your cart at any time by clicking the cart icon at the top right of the site. From there, proceed to purchase or continue shopping.
Step 2: Add order details.
In your cart, you can select a shipping destination, review the cost of the item, or change the quantity you'd like to purchase, if the seller has more than one available.
Be sure to check the listing description to see if the seller requests any specific information from you.
If there's anything you need to tell the seller, type in the Add an optional note to seller box.
If you have a coupon code, click Apply shop coupon code and then Apply after entering your code.
If you’re trying to use more than one coupon code, the coupon code you last applied may override any previous ones. This is because some coupon codes may apply to multiple shops in your cart. If necessary, re-enter your coupon codes in a different order until you get the desired result.
Step 3: Select payment method.
It's up to each seller what payment methods they accept, so you may see different payment methods in different shops.
The seller may offer one or more of the following:
If the seller accepts credit cards directly, you’ll be able to use the following cards to complete your purchase. (A debit or bank card with one of these logos should also work.)
- American Express
- Carte Bleue (France)
This article offers tips in case you have trouble with your card.
You may see a pending transaction on your credit card bill for a small amount. This is a pre-authorization test to ensure your card is valid. Once your card has been validated, it will be dropped from your statement.
Your card will be saved for future purchases, but you can always remove or edit it by going to You > Account settings > Credit Cards.
Note: If you're using the Etsy app on iOS, you can add a card during the purchasing process. While checking out, you'll see an option to Add a new card. You can either use your device's camera to scan your card, or fill out your card information manually. When you're finished, tap Save and use this card.
Etsy Gift Card or Etsy Credit
If you have an Etsy Gift Card or Etsy Credit balance, the option to pay with that balance will automatically be selected. Deselect the box if you'd prefer not to use your balance. Learn more about redeeming and applying an Etsy Gift Card or Etsy Credit.
Keep in mind that you need an Etsy account in order to either purchase or redeem an Etsy Gift Card or Etsy Credit.

If you choose to pay through PayPal, you'll be redirected to a secure PayPal page and then back to Etsy to confirm the order. When purchasing using PayPal on multi-shop checkout, you can purchase from up to 10 shops in one transaction. Learn more here.

Klarna Invoice Payments
Etsy buyers located in Germany can receive their orders before paying for them, using an invoice product called Pay Later from our partner Klarna. Klarna is an online payments company, based and licensed in Sweden. Learn more about Klarna.
Note: If you don’t see this option, and you’re in Germany, make sure your region settings are set to “Germany” and “EUR” by scrolling to the bottom of most Etsy pages. Click on the country and currency to update them.
This is available in most shops to buyers in the Netherlands, Austria, and Germany.
You can pay with a bank transfer via iDEAL in the Netherlands or Sofort in Germany and Austria.
You’ll be transferred to iDEAL or Sofort’s website to authorize your payment. You’ll then be directed back to Etsy.
You must have an Etsy account to pay with bank transfer.
Note: If you don’t see this option, and you’re in one of these countries, make sure your region setting is correct by scrolling to the bottom of most Etsy pages. Click on the country and change your Region. If it’s already correct, the seller may not accept bank transfers.
Check or money order
You'll be given the seller's mailing address after you purchase the order.
You must have an Etsy account to pay with check or money order.
This means the seller has some other way of accepting payment. Review the shop's policies in the listing overview or contact the seller directly to work out the payment.
You must have an Etsy account to use this payment method.
Step 4: Submit your order.
You'll have a chance to review your information before submitting your order.
If needed, you can choose a different shipping address by clicking the Change link. You’ll only be able to use one address for each transaction, even while using multi-shop checkout. If you’d like to send items to a different address, move those items to the saved for later section of your cart and purchase them in a separate transaction later.
To complete the process, click Submit order.
You will see a confirmation that your order is complete.
Etsy will send you an email for each shop that you’ve purchased from. If you have any questions about your order, be sure to reach out to your seller directly.
You can view your order information by going to You > Purchases and reviews.
Note: If you’re purchasing a digital file that's available for instant download, you can access the file via your Purchases and reviews page, but you’ll also receive a separate email with a download link. If you purchased as a guest, you'll find the link to download your items in the receipt that was emailed to you after purchase. The link will direct you to the order’s Downloads page.
