How to send offers to interested shoppers

To send offers to interested shoppers, follow the instructions to set up a sale and click Set up offer. Select the options you’d like for your campaign. Learn more about each option:

Who would you like to send this offer to?

  • Abandoned cart shoppers: Offers will be sent to people who’ve left items from your shop in their cart. These shoppers will get an email offering them a coupon for that item 24 hours after they abandoned it in their cart. Shoppers can receive an offer email for this audience every 2 days and can receive a max of 6 offers per send. If a buyer adds an item to their cart and then removes that item within 24 hrs, they won’t receive a targeted offer email.
  • Recently favorited shoppers: Offers will be sent to people who favorited something in your shop 48 hours after they favorited that item. Shoppers can receive an offer email for this audience every 7 days and can receive a max of 6 offers per send. If a buyer favorites an item and then removes that item from their favorites within 48 hrs, they won’t receive a favorited item email.

What type of coupon?

  • Percentage off: You can offer any percentage off the list price of items in your shop.
  • Fixed amount off: You can offer a fixed amount off the list price of items in your shop.
  • Free standard shipping: You can offer free standard shipping on items in your shop. This means that the shopper won’t pay a shipping fee. You can choose to only offer free shipping on domestic orders. Learn how to offer free shipping.

Choose a coupon code: Enter a coupon code. This coupon code will be sent to shoppers, and they can enter it into their cart at checkout. This also generates a unique URL for this coupon code that you can send to shoppers.

What do targeted offers cost?

Targeted offers are free to use.

Before October 25, 2018, targeted offers used to cost $0.10 USD per send.

A campaign will continue to run until you decide to stop it by choosing See details and manage under the discount on your Sales and Coupons page.

Why didn’t a shopper receive my coupon?

Some shoppers may have opted out to receive this type of coupon, so a coupon may not send to every single shopper who favorites an item or leaves an item in their cart.

How to create a coupon

To create a coupon, follow the instructions to set up a sale and click Create coupon. Select the options you’d like for your coupon. Learn more about each option:

I’d like to offer shoppers

  • Percentage off: You can offer any percentage off the list price of items in your shop.
  • Fixed amount off: You can offer a fixed amount off the list price of items in your shop. These coupons are automatically shop-wide.
  • Free standard shipping: You can offer free standard shipping on items in your shop. This means that the shopper won’t pay a shipping fee. These coupons are automatically shop-wide. You can choose to only offer free shipping on domestic orders. Learn how to offer free shipping.

Minimum order to qualify

  • None: There is no minimum to qualify for the sale.
  • Quantity: Set a number of items the shopper needs to purchase to qualify for the sale. This makes your sale shop-wide, and you can’t exclude items from the sale.
  • Order total: Set a minimum amount shoppers must spend at your shop to qualify for the sale. This makes your sale shop-wide, and you can’t exclude items from the sale.

If you choose to only offer a percentage off coupon on certain listings, new listings won't be automatically added to existing coupons. You can edit the sale or coupon later to include them.

How free shipping works with other discounts

If you offer more than one promotion, shoppers can apply both a list price discount and free shipping to an order.

The order must be eligible for both promotions for a shopper to apply both discounts.

If you don’t have an active free shipping promotion, then shoppers won’t see the option to apply more than one discount to an item in your shop.

How to review performance of sales and coupons

You can track the performance of your offers in the Sales and Coupons section of your shop. Here you'll see a breakdown of:

  • Orders
  • Items sold
  • Average order value (AOV)
  • Revenue
