When shoppers are searching for items on Etsy, it’s important that they can easily find quality listings from shops they can trust. While there are many factors that impact an item’s placement in Etsy search, the Etsy search visibility page shows personalized shop insights and actions that can help how you show up in search.
What is the Etsy search visibility dashboard?
The Etsy search visibility page in Shop Manager shows how your shop is performing in three key areas that can impact your placement in Etsy search:
- Your listings
- Your shop
- Your customer service
The dashboard also shows recommended actions which may help increase your item’s search visibility.
Your listings
Creating high-quality and clear listings helps buyers feel more confident making a purchase. Active listings need to meet certain requirements for a chance to receive priority placement in relevant search results, such as:
- Has at least one listing image
- The listing’s primary photo contains high-resolution images (greater than 0.4 megapixels)
- The listing’s primary photo is a singular image of a finished product (no collaged or stitched together images)
- The primary photo is clear and well-lit
- The listing’s category is as specific as possible
- The listing has a return policy, even if it’s “No returns”
- US listings with domestic shipping prices lower than $6 will be prioritized in search
If your listing is falling short in one or more of these areas, its visibility in search may be impacted. Both the Etsy search visibility page and your Listings manager show what improvements can help improve a listing’s search placement. Learn how to edit a listing.
The Etsy Seller app has tools to adjust the lighting on listing photos.
Your shop
Having a fully set up shop can boost buyer trust. Your shop should have a shop icon, which helps the buyer understand who you are. If your shop is not complete, your listings’ search visibility may be impacted.

Your customer service
There are minimums that you must reach when it comes to customer service including:
- Responding to buyer messages in a timely manner
- Shipping orders on time and with tracking
- Maintaining a positive review score
- Avoiding a high number of cases.
The Customer service stats page in Shop Manager details how you are performing in each key area and we’ll let you know if the service you’re providing to buyers needs some attention. Meeting these standards can help you avoid lower visibility in Etsy search. Learn more about Etsy’s Customer service standards.
In some cases, repeat violations of these standards may result in temporary or permanent suspension of your selling privileges on Etsy. However, if you consistently go above and beyond these standards, you can earn a Star Seller badge.
Making search visibility improvements
The Etsy search visibility page will show you how your listings are performing in the areas of your shop, listing, and customer service quality. Once improvements have been made, the insights will typically disappear within 24 hours.
You can filter through all of your listings to quickly see which search improvements can be made from your Listings page.
To filter your listings for search improvements:
- In your Shop Manager, go to Listings.
- In the Search factors bar, filter by search visibility issues.
- All listings with the selected issue will be displayed.
We’ll let you know if the customer service you’re providing to buyers needs some attention in your Customer service stats.
Changes can take up to one day to reflect in search. There are several other factors that impact where your listing shows up in search for any individual keyword, including keyword relevance and any search filters buyers may apply.
