What Craft and Party Supplies am I Allowed to Sell?

To ensure our marketplace supports creativity, there are specific guidelines on the types of craft and party supplies that sellers can source and sell on Etsy. These guidelines ensure that craft and party supplies are not ready-to-use commercial products being resold.

What qualifies as a seller sourced resold craft supply?

Qualifying craft supplies are tools and raw materials intended for open-ended creation. These lists are not exhaustive.

Qualifying craft blanks

Blank/unfinished items with no independent retail market outside of crafting (for example, bare metal jewelry findings, raw MDF shapes).

  • Items that can be used without additional maker modification like plain tumblers, phone cases, t-shirts, or canvas bags are not allowed.
Craft books New or vintage books with instructions for crafting projects

  • Items that are usable as-is without additional crafting (even if they could be used for crafting, such as a blank Hanes t-shirt)
  • Home DIY supplies (drawer pulls, knobs, brackets, switch plates, house numbers)
  • Office supplies (stationery, envelopes, shipping supplies)
  • General construction tools and materials (e.g., lumber, drywall, concrete mix, power drills, standard hammers)
    • Specialized art or craft tools (items geared toward small-scale, niche, or hobby work such as craft saws, wood glue, sandpaper, jewelry pliers, mosaic cutters, etc.) are allowed
  • Generic cooking tools and ingredients (pots and pans, oven)
  • Gardening tools (e.g., hoe, watering can, hose)
  • Hazardous materials and chemicals
  • Auto/bike parts and repair tools
  • Cosmetic tools and supplies (e.g., nail polish, makeup, wigs)
  • Non-craft focused kits (e.g., cosmetic kits, general toolkits)

What qualifies as seller sourced resold party supplies?

Party supplies should be designed specifically for celebratory gatherings and special events. These lists are not exhaustive.

Party space decor Balloon arch kits, wedding arches, photobooth backdrops
Table decor Confetti, table scatter, cake toppers/candles/sparklers
Party centerpieces Table centerpieces exclusively for special events (balloon bouquets, spray centerpieces, table numbers, statement candleholders/vases)
Festive table accessories

Table accessories like tablecloths, runners, coasters, napkins, cups, plates, straws, or food picks to qualify as party supplies, they must include festive elements such as event-specific text or design (patterns, special shapes or finishes, etc.). 

  • Plain or solid-colored items don't qualify.
Party games Games exclusively for gatherings (pin the tail on the donkey, piñatas, dreidels)
Gift packaging Gift bags, tissue paper, ribbons, bows, gift tags, wrapping paper

  • Structures and large equipment (gazebos, bouncy castles)
  • Furniture (tables, chairs)
  • Generic tableware (plain white paper plates) without festive decorative elements
  • Plain lighting (candles, string lights)
  • Event equipment (karaoke machines, speakers)
  • Costumes
  • Seasonal home/lawn decor displayed throughout a season (Christmas ornaments, etc.) 
  • Party favors and small toys
  • Religious supplies
