What is AutoBilling?
Automatic Billing (also known as AutoBilling) allows payments to be processed automatically to a card on file. That way you can focus on your shop, and not your bill!
Note: At this time, AutoBilling is for US-based shops only. If your shop is based in a different country, you will not see the option to turn on AutoBilling.
Turn on AutoBilling
- Go to Shop Manager > Finances > Your bill.
- Click for the Enroll Now button at the top of your bill homepage.
- Choose a credit card on file to automatically pay your Etsy bill. You can also add a new credit card.
- Click Enroll in Automatic Bill Payment.
Please note that once you enroll in AutoBilling, Etsy will charge the card you have on file with your account's current balance. If your bill has no outstanding balance, your account will not be charged.
Note: If you have the Sell on Etsy app and are a US seller, you can enable AutoBilling from the Finances > Payment account section in the app.
When you’ll get charged
There are two types of payments that will be processed on your behalf:
First of the month: On the first of every month, you are charged for any outstanding fees from the previous month. You need to have enrolled in AutoBilling before 12:00am UTC (or 7pm ET) on the last day of the prior month for the monthly automatic payments to begin.
- Fee threshold: If, before the first of the month, your outstanding fees are greater than or equal to a predetermined amount known as your fee threshold, you will be charged the amount of the outstanding fees.
If bill is past due
If a payment can’t be processed, you'll receive an email and on-site notifications reminding you to provide full payment within 5 days.
After 5 days, your account may be suspended. You'll need to make a manual payment for your total outstanding balance and confirm your credit card information on file.
Once your total outstanding balance is paid, your account will be automatically reinstated.
Determining your fee threshold
If you are a new seller, your initial fee threshold is set at $25.00.
If you are an existing seller, we will look back up to three months to take the highest of your monthly bills. Based on this highest monthly bill, we will set your initial fee threshold at the next higher fee threshold, according to the chart below.

For example, if your last three monthly bills were $13.70, $22.80, $43.20, the highest bill would be $43.20. The next higher fee threshold would be $50.00, so your fee threshold would be set to $50.00.
Changes to your fee threshold
As you sell on Etsy, if your billing fees increase above your current fee threshold and trigger a fee threshold payment, we will bump you up to the next higher fee threshold. ($1,000.00 is the highest fee threshold.)
For example, you have a current fee threshold of $25.00 and you've listed more items and made a number of sales. Suddenly your billing fees total $27.40. In this case, you’ll receive a charge of $27.40 and your fee threshold will be bumped up to the next fee threshold of $50.00.
When your bill balance approaches your fee threshold, you'll receive a notice from us letting you know that you are close and that an automatic payment is likely to be charged soon.

How to stop AutoBilling
AutoBilling can be turned off at any time:
- Go to Shop Manager > Finances > Your billl and scroll to the bottom of the page.
- Click Looking to turn off automatic bill payment?
- Confirm by choosing Turn off Automatic Bill Payment.
It may take a reasonable amount of time to stop your AutoBilling after we receive your notice. This means that an additional automatic payment may be made to your card account while we are processing your request.
