How to apply for compensation or Extra Cover
If your item is damaged or an item is missing from your package, you’ll need to visit an Australia Post office and apply for compensation. They may request some additional documents to support your claim, including your shipping label receipt and a receipt for the order.
For missing items, you may complete the missing package form once the item is more than 1 business day late.

How to file a claim with Canada Post
To file a claim, call Canada Post Customer Service toll free at 1-866-607-6301 or visit the Canada Post website. They will request some additional documents to support your claim, including your shipping label receipt and a receipt for the order.
For lost parcels, you may file a claim as soon as the estimated or guaranteed delivery date has passed. Claims for damaged or missing items can be filed immediately.
Claims must be filed no later than 90 days from the shipment date.
What insurance is available for FedEx shipments?

How to file a claim with USPS
To file a claim for insurance included with the shipping label you purchased, you need to file with USPS.
Note: You must create an account with the USPS if you don’t already have one.
For packages lost in the mail, you must wait 7 days before filing a claim. Claims for damages may be filed once the package bears a "Delivered" tracking event.
When filing a claim with USPS, the damaged article, container, packaging, and any other items received must be presented to the Postal Service for inspection.
What coverage is available for Royal Mail shipments?
Some postage purchased on Etsy comes with coverage included, and you can purchase additional coverage for your shipment.

Can I purchase additional coverage for Royal Mail shipments?
No, you can’t purchase additional coverage for Royal Mail shipments. However, all Royal Mail delivery services include some compensation coverage.

How do I insure a package with Shipsurance?
When you purchase a USPS or FedEx Shipping Label on Etsy, you have the option to add shipping insurance for up to $5,000 USD. Parcel insurance on Etsy is provided by Shipsurance Insurance Services, Inc. Learn about insurance rules, requirements, and restrictions.
For US domestic shipments and APO/FPO/DPO military addresses, rates per package are:
- $0.80 per $100 of order value
- $0.80 for each additional $100 or a fraction thereof over $100 of coverage
For international shipments, rates are $1.35 per $100 of coverage, per package.
How to purchase insurance through Shipsurance
When you purchase a shipping label on Etsy, you have the option to purchase additional insurance. To add insurance, click the box next to Add insurance and type the amount of insurance you’d like to purchase. The amount you insure should include both the cost of postage and the value of the package contents.
The cost of your insurance, as well as any additional shipping fees, is included in the itemized list on your label purchase page. After purchasing insurance for a label, the cost of insurance will appear separately on your Etsy bill as “Shipsurance Parcel Insurance,” and will include the shipping label number.
How to file a claim with Shipsurance
Filing a claim for insurance purchased with your Etsy Shipping Label begins on Etsy. Afterward, the process is handled entirely by Shipsurance.
If you need to cancel the order, file your claim before doing so. You won't be able to file a claim after the order is canceled.
To file a claim with Shipsurance:
- Sign in to Etsy.com.
- Click the Your Account icon, then click Shop Manager.
- Click Orders & Shipping.
- Click the order with the shipping label your insured.
- Click the … (ellipsis) icon to the right.
- Select File Insurance Claim.
- You’ll be directed to the Shipsurance website to fill out the remainder of your claim form.
The rest of the process is handled entirely by Shipsurance Insurance Services who may request some additional documents during this process.
Claims must be filed no later than 120 days from the shipment date. For lost parcels, you must wait 20 days for domestic and 40 days for international locations before filing a claim.
What can’t be insured through Shipsurance?
The following in an exhaustive list of items that cannot be insured: Accounts, bills, currency, cash in transit, evidence of debt, checks, money orders, COD payments, coins (collectible coins are not excluded), securities and other negotiable papers, tickets, deeds, notes, gift cards, manuscripts, documents, neon items, hazardous material (per UPS Hazardous Materials List), televisions, computer monitors, or similar (including LCD, plasma, CRT, projection, LED, and similar), perishable cargo or similar property, eggs, any stone or ceramic slabs, automobiles, motorcycles, live animals, flowers, plants, seeds, cigarettes/cigars, cotton, guns (guns more than 100 years old are not excluded), tobacco, windows, plate glass (glass panels), float glass (glass panels).
Insurance is not available for packages being shipped to: Afghanistan, Angola, Brazil, Bolivia, Burma, Congo, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast (Cote d'Ivoire), Liberia, Mexico (Truck/rail shipments to and within other than as a connecting conveyance), Nigeria, North Korea, Paraguay, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela. Additionally, coverage is not available to any location that would be in violation of any U.S. economic or trade sanctions including OFAC Restricted Countries. For shipments to Russian and other Commonwealth of Independent States countries (includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan) coverage ceases upon touchdown of the aircraft at the airport of destination or upon discharge from the overseas vessel at the destination discharge port.
