What Payment Methods Can I Use to Check Out on Etsy?

Most sellers on Etsy offer:

Some sellers accept only some of these methods.

Credit and debit cards

Sellers who accept credit and debit cards on Etsy accept most major credit issuers, including:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard/Eurocard
  • Discover
  • American Express
  • Carte Bleue (France)

You may see a pending transaction on your credit card bill for a small amount. This is a pre-authorization test to ensure your card is valid. Once your card has been validated, it will be dropped from your statement.

Your card will be saved for future purchases. You can remove or edit your saved card by going to You > Account settings > Credit Cards.

If you're in the EEA

If you're in the EEA, which comprises the EU, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein, you may be asked to authenticate your payment when you complete a purchase.

To authenticate a payment, you will need to respond to a prompt from your card issuer and provide additional information. Depending on your card issuer, this additional information may include a correct response to a question, a password, or a passcode.

Etsy Gift Card or Etsy Credit

If you have an Etsy Gift Card or Etsy Credit balance, the option to pay with that balance will automatically be selected. Deselect the box if you'd prefer not to use your balance. Learn more about redeeming and applying an Etsy Gift Card or Etsy Credit.

As Paypal does not operate in Turkey, PayPal is not available in shops or for buyers located in Turkey. Additionally, sellers in Israel cannot currently accept PayPal payments. However you can purchase in their shops using any other available payment methods: Credit cards, Debit/bank cards, Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna Invoice payments (for buyers in Germany), iDEAL (for buyers in the Netherlands), Sofort (for buyers in Austria and Germany).

Klarna 4 interest-free installments and Monthly financing (United States)

Buyers with a United States billing address may be able to pay for certain items in installments with Klarna, an online payments company.

When you order on Etsy using Klarna, you agree to Klarna’s Terms and Conditions and Privacy Notice, and make your installment payments directly to Klarna.

Klarna offers two installment options for US buyers.

For orders totaling between $50 USD and $250 USD after discounts, and before shipping and tax, you can pay 4 interest-free installments. With this option, you’ll pay the first installment when checking out on Etsy. For the remaining three installments, you’ll pay every two weeks, until you’ve paid a total of four times. You won't be charged interest or fees when paying installments on time. Learn more in Klarna’s support article.

For orders totaling between $250.01 USD and $10,000 USD after discounts and before shipping and tax, you can choose Monthly financing. You can then choose a payment schedule offered by Klarna. Klarna will determine payment schedule options and an interest rate based on the order total and a credit check assessed by Klarna. If an order totals the maximum $10,000 USD, we use the total order value after discounts, shipping, and tax. Learn more in Klarna’s support article.

You can order multiple items and from multiple shops at once with Klarna as long as the order meets the other requirements.

I don’t see this option

There are a few reasons why you may not see the option to pay with Klarna.

If the order is between $250 USD and $10,000 USD you’ll need to sign in to an Etsy account or create an Etsy account to check out with Klarna.

Make sure your location is set to the United States, your currency is set to United States Dollar (USD), and your language is set to English. You can click to change these at the bottom of most Etsy pages. Learn how to change your regional preferences.

The order may not be between $50 USD and $10,000 USD after any discounts, and before shipping and taxes. If an item is below $50 USD, combine it with more items in your cart to total over $50 USD. If an order totals the maximum $10,000 USD, we use the total order value after discounts, shipping, and taxes.

If you still don’t see the option to pay with Klarna, one or more shops on the order may not accept Klarna installment payments at this time.

Klarna Invoice Payments (Germany)

Etsy buyers located in Germany can receive their orders before paying for them, using an invoice product called Pay Later with Klarna. Klarna is an online payments company, based and licensed in Sweden. Learn more about Klarna.

I don’t see this option

If you don’t see this option, and you’re in Germany, make sure your region settings are set to “Germany” and “EUR” by scrolling to the bottom of most Etsy pages. Click on the country and currency to update them.

iDEAL and Sofort bank transfers

This is available in most shops to buyers in the Netherlands, Austria, and Germany.

You can pay with a bank transfer via iDEAL in the Netherlands or Sofort in Germany and Austria.

You’ll be transferred to iDEAL or Sofort’s website to authorize your payment. You’ll then be directed back to Etsy.

You must have an Etsy account to pay with bank transfer.

I don’t see this option

If you don’t see this option, and you’re in one of these countries, make sure your region setting is correct by scrolling to the bottom of most Etsy pages. Click on the country and change your Region. If it’s already correct, the seller may not accept bank transfers.
