What are the benefits of Etsy Payments?

There are several benefits to using Etsy Payments.

Protect your business

Etsy Payments gives you the most protection on Etsy. When your payments are processed through Etsy Payments, it provides Etsy with the information we need to help investigate chargebacks and facilitate the resolution of cases filed against sellers. Sales processed through Etsy Payments are eligible for Etsy’s Seller Protection Policy

For your buyers

Etsy Payments provides buyers with a unified experience across shops, and gives them the choice of how they want to pay for an order. By creating a unified experience and offering more payment options, you can build trust with your buyers. Etsy Payments makes it faster and easier for buyers to complete a purchase in your shop.

Simplify your payments

Etsy Payments routes all of your sales from Etsy to one place. You can schedule your deposits to arrive in your bank account when you want them - daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

What are the fees and taxes for Etsy Payments?

Fees in each market vary due to the differing costs of operating and depositing in each country. Etsy Payments fees will apply to all of your sales on Etsy, in addition to all other applicable Etsy fees. For full details of fees, visit our Fees & Payments Policy.

We’ll collect VAT on processing and deposit fees for sellers in Malaysia, South Africa, and Turkey. If you have a VAT ID, you can add your VAT ID to your Etsy account to establish a business relationship with Etsy.

In Malaysia and Turkey, sellers who have a business relationship with Etsy are not charged VAT on seller fees.

How are PayPal sales affected?

The ability to accept PayPal payments directly to your PayPal account will switch off the day after the date by which sellers in your country are required to enroll in Etsy Payments. See Dates to Switch to Etsy Payments.

However, when you’re enrolled in Etsy Payments, people who purchase items from your shop can pay using PayPal, if Paypal is available in your country and can be integrated with Etsy Payments. Your sales funds will go into your Payment account on Etsy instead of appearing in your PayPal account.

Where eligibility requirements are met, Etsy's Seller Protection covers PayPal transactions processed through Etsy Payments.

Additionally, when you use PayPal through Etsy Payments you don't pay a separate PayPal fee. Learn about the fees charged for sales processed through Etsy Payments in the Etsy Payments Policy.

When enrolling in Etsy Payments, we’ll do a one-time conversion of your Payment account balance into your local bank currency. From that point on, you’ll be able to pay your fees and receive sale funds in your local bank currency.
