How to pay with UPI

There are 3 different ways you can use UPI to make a purchase:

  • UPI Collect (aka UPI ID): Available on both mobile devices and web
  • UPI Intent (aka UPI Apps): Only available on mobile devices
  • QR Code: Only available on web

  1. Under How you’ll pay, select UPI.
  2. Select Proceed to checkout.
  3. Select your shipping address or enter a new one. You will need to provide a phone number as part of your shipping address.
  4. Enter your UPI ID.
  5. Select Review your order.
  6. Confirm the details on the review page.
  7. Select Submit your order to <location>.

You’ll receive a request on your UPI app to authorize the payment. Once you authorize your payment, you’ll see a success page with your receipt details of your purchase on Etsy.

The order is complete once you approve the payment on your UPI app within the allotted time you see on the screen. If you don’t approve the payment within this timeframe, the purchase won’t complete. You’ll need to go back to your basket and restart the checkout process.

  1. On the Etsy app, or Etsy.com using a mobile browser, add the items you want to your basket.
  2. Under How you’ll pay, select UPI App
  3. Select your shipping address or enter a new one. You'll need to provide a phone number as part of your shipping address.
  4. Then, choose one of the three available apps: Gpay, PayTM, or PhonePe.
  5. Select Continue to Review.
  6. Confirm and Submit your order.

The order is complete one you approve the payment on the app of your choice within the allotted time you see on the screen. If you don’t approve the payment within this time frame, the purchase won’t complete. You’ll need to go back to your basket and restart the checkout process.

Once payment is successful, you won't be automatically redirected to Etsy. You can find your receipt on the Etsy app, which will show UPI as the payment method.

When your order is placed, you will receive two emails: one from Etsy confirming your order, and another from Razorpay confirming the payment was processed successfully.

  1. On the Etsy app, or Etsy.com using a mobile browser, add the items you want to your basket.
  2. Under How you’ll pay, select Scan a QR Code.
  3. Select Review your Order.
  4. Select your shipping address or enter a new one. You'll need to provide a phone number as part of your shipping address.
  5. Confirm and Submit your order.
  6. You'll receive a message asking you to use a QR scanning app to scan the code. Once you scan the QR Code you will be asked to make the payment.
  7. Select Proceed to pay.
  8. Once payment is successful, you'll receive a SMS from your bank indicating the payment settled and you'll be redirected to the order confirmation page on Etsy.

Your Etsy receipt shows the QR Code as the payment method. After you place your order you'll receive two emails: one from Etsy confirming your order, and another from Razorpay confirming the payment was processed successfully.

How to pay with credit and debit cards

Some sellers on Etsy accept credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, and RuPay.

RuPay only appears as a credit card option when you purchase from a seller located in India. If you purchase from a seller outside India, you won’t see this option.

You may see a pending transaction on your credit card bill for a small amount. This is a pre-authorization test to ensure your card is valid. Once your card is validated, it’s dropped from your statement.
