How the Review System Works for Sellers

Buyers use Etsy’s five-star review system (one being the lowest and five being the highest) to review their purchases.

When a buyer can leave a review

When a buyer can leave a review is based on the delivery date or estimated delivery date of the order and expires 100 calendar days from that date. For digital items, the 100-day review period begins when the buyer downloads the file(s).

If your order has delivery tracking, the delivery date is when the shipping carrier marks your order as Delivered.

If your order doesn't have delivery tracking, the estimated delivery date is the purchase date + processing time + shipping days.

When can buyers review items purchased in person?

When you use the Sell on Etsy app to sell an item in-person, the buyer can only leave a review if they purchased an existing listing. The buyer must also provide an email address that is associated with an Etsy account. If these criteria are met, the buyer will be able to sign into their account to leave a review immediately after the transaction is made.

Reviews can only be left for items sold through Etsy. If you sell an item in-person through Square, the buyer can't leave a review on Etsy.com. The buyer may be able to leave a review in Square.

How to see your reviews

  1. Sign in to Etsy.com and go to Shop Manager.
  2. Select your shop name under Sales Channels.
  3. Select the star rating or scroll down to your Reviews section.

On the Sell on Etsy app, go to More > Reviews.

You can also download your reviews into a JSON file.

  1. Sign in to Etsy.com and go to Shop Manager.
  2. Go to Settings and then Options.
  3. Select Download data
  4. Select Download Your Reviews

What does my review score mean?

Your score is an average of the star ratings received in the last 12 months and is based on the date the review has been left.

You can respond to buyer reviews of 3 stars or less.

Can other buyers see review photos?

If a buyer includes a photograph of their purchase alongside a five-star review, this photo will be visible to anyone who looks at your reviews.

If you feel as though this photo does not accurately reflect your brand or aesthetic, you may hide the photograph:

  1. Go to your reviews on Etsy.com or the Sell on Etsy app.
  2. Select Hide this Photo from Buyers under the photo.

What if I receive an inappropriate review?

If you feel as though the review, or photo, is in violation of our policies, please select Report this Review directly under the review. Learn what to do if you receive a negative review.

Etsy employees may remove reviews that violate Etsy’s policies or guidelines. Reviews or comments which are removed by Etsy employees cannot be reinstated.
