A free shipping guarantee lets shoppers in the US know that they won’t pay added shipping costs on orders totaling $35 or over that ship within or to the US.
As of July 30, 2019, items that ship for free and shops that offer free shipping on orders $35 or more to US shoppers will be prioritized in US search to help US shoppers to find more items that ship free within the US.
How to set up a free shipping guarantee for your shop
To set up a free shipping guarantee in your shop:
- On Etsy.com, click the Shop Manager icon.
- Click Settings.
- Click Shipping settings.
- Click Get started in the Free shipping guarantee tab.
- Click Next.
- Click Set free shipping.
After you set up a free shipping guarantee you have the option to reprice items in your shop to recover shipping costs. You can use the optional smart pricing tool to adjust the prices of your items. How you determine and set prices for your shop is your decision.

- Your US buyers won’t get free shipping on orders $35 and up
- US buyers will be charged for the shipping prices listed in your shipping settings
- Items that don’t ship free won’t get priority placement in US search results
- You could decrease your sales and average order value (remember, buyers are 20% more likely to complete a purchase when free shipping is offered)

To get priority placement in US search results, you have to offer free shipping to buyers in the US in one of these ways:
- Through a free shipping guarantee
- Through offering free shipping to US buyers on your listings
Free shipping must be automatically applied to a listing for it to receive priority placement in search. This means that your free shipping sale isn’t conditional: it doesn’t require the buyer to purchase a certain number of items or a certain cart minimum to qualify for free shipping.
You won’t get priority placement in US search with a free shipping sale with a minimum order quantity. To get priority placement in US search, you can offer unconditional free shipping to US buyers on your listings or set up a free shipping guarantee.
If you set up a free shipping guarantee for US buyers, you can run a conditional free shipping sale. However, this sale won’t show for US buyers, who instead will see the free shipping guarantee.
If you want to run a conditional free shipping sale that works for US buyers, you can turn off your free shipping guarantee while you run the sale.

Even if you offer a free shipping guarantee, some orders with a US shipping address may not qualify for free shipping because of other account settings. Buyers must also:
A free shipping offer covers the lowest-cost available mail class. If an order exceeds the weight or dimensions of a low-cost mail class, a mail service that can accomodate the order is used. For example, if an order exceeds the allowed dimensions for USPS’ First-Class mail, USPS Priority mail is offered free.
To prevent this, check if you can update the dimensions of an item to fit within your preferred mail class. Remember that item dimensions used for shipping must be accurate, or you may incur a shipping label adjustment fee from the carrier.
If you’re a seller outside the US and India, you can set up a different listing price for orders shipping within your country and orders shipping outside your country.
