Packing Slips and Order Receipts

Packing slips are a record of a transaction for buyers, meant to be included along with an order for a shipment. Order receipts are intended to serve as physical records of transactions for sellers. Neither packing slips nor order receipts are considered invoices for buyers.

You may print a packing slip or physical receipt for any of your orders from either the Orders & Shipping page, or an individual receipt page.

How to customize packing slips and order receipts

You may edit the information that is included on packing slips or the level of detail on an order receipt by choosing Customize options. There, you’ll see a list of several items that you may include.

Select Save these settings for next time to automatically populate your selections on future packing slips and order receipts.

In addition to detailed order information, you can choose to include promotional items on your packing slips, like your shop banner or a coupon code for use on a future purchase. Learn more about coupon codes.

You are not required to include your terms and conditions on the packing slip, but if you like you may include them in the Add a personalized note field.

Orders marked as gifts

Buyers can mark the order as a gift on their end. That means when you print a packing slip, the slip will automatically omit the breakdown of what the buyer paid.

If you offer it, the buyer can also include a gift message. If they select to include a gift message in their order, all you'll have to do is print it out and place it in with their package. Check here for more information on offering gift wrapping services.

If a buyer lets you know in some other way that the order is a gift, you can manually mark the order as a gift.

To mark the order as a gift:

  1. Go to Orders & Shipping
  2. Find the order you want to mark as a gift
  3. Choose More actions
  4. Select Mark as gift

You’ll see a reminder the order is a gift below the shipping address on the Sold Orders page.
