You can manage your shop finances in the Payment account in Shop Manager. In your Payment account, you can pay your amount due and schedule the deposits of available Etsy Payment sales funds.
To review your Payment account:
- On Etsy.com, open Shop Manager or More on the Sell on Etsy app.
- Select Finances.
- Choose Payment account.

How your payment account works
If you’re enrolled in Etsy Payments, your fees are automatically deducted from your sales. This means that at any time, you’ll only have a value in either your amount due or your amount available for deposit.
If you aren’t enrolled in Etsy Payments, your fees will appear in your Amount due. Your sales funds will be processed through the payment method you use.
How to pay your amount due
Your amount due is how much you owe from last month’s activities on Etsy. If your current balance is negative at the end of the month, you’ll have an amount due on the first of the following month.
If you have an amount due and you receive an Etsy Payments sale, your amount due will decrease by the net amount of the sale and any applicable fees. If your sales are more than your amount due or you pay your full amount due, your amount due will be zero.
You can pay your amount due between the 1st and 15th of the month.
- Select Pay now under Amount due.
- Select the amount you’d like to pay.
- Choose your payment method.
- Choose Submit Payment.
What if I’m in the EEA?
If you're in the EEA, which comprises the EU, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein, you may be asked to authenticate your payment when you click Submit Payment.
To authenticate a payment, you will need to respond to a prompt from your card issuer and provide additional information. Depending on your card issuer, this additional information may include a correct response to a question, a password, or a passcode.
Can I automatically pay my amount due?
If your shop is located in the US, you can enroll in autobilling to automatically pay your amount due each month.
How to view the amount available for deposit
Your Available for deposit amount is your available sales funds minus refunds, fees and taxes, and any funds that have been placed in a reserve. If you have an amount due, or a negative balance, you won’t have funds available for deposit. Learn how to reconcile your deposit.
If you have funds available for deposit, you’ll see when your funds will automatically deposit into your bank account based on your disbursement schedule. Or, you can click Request it now to have your funds deposited the next day, as long as you meet any applicable deposit minimums.
If you aren’t enrolled in Etsy Payments, you won’t have an amount available for deposit because your payments are processed through a different payment method.
When will my funds become available for deposit?
If less than 90 days have passed from your first sale, your sale funds become available 3 days after a sale. When the 90-day period ends, funds will become available for deposit the next business day after a sale.
There may also be a 5-day security hold for adding or updating your bank details.
Separate to any applicable security hold, a Payment account reserve may be placed on a portion of sellers’ accounts in accordance with risk factors described in the Etsy Payments Policy. A Payment account reserve means that a percentage of funds from sales is set aside on a rolling basis for up to 45 days, after which it’s made available for deposit. In the event a shop sees an unusual spike in orders, particularly in a high demand category, or we otherwise believe that your actions may result in buyer disputes, chargebacks, high risk of fraud, counterfeiting, or other claims, Etsy may take action on your account in accordance with our Terms of Service, including our Etsy Payments Policy. When appropriate and permitted by law, Etsy will communicate information to the affected seller about the issue.
How to see an overview of your finances
To see an overview of your finances, go to your Activity summary. You can view separate totals for the sales you’ve made, any refunds you’ve issued, sales tax paid by the buyer, fees, and credits from Etsy.
Choose the time range dropdown under Activity summary to explore data over different time periods.
Select an area to learn what’s in your summary:
Your Net profit is the total of funds from your sales, minus any refunds, fees, shipping costs, and taxes.
Your Sales and fees section gives an overview of incoming funds from sales, as well as subtractions from any refunds you issued to buyers, Etsy fees, and any sales tax that Etsy remits.
You may see these terms under Sales and fees:
- Total sales gives the total funds from all sales during the selected date range.
- Refunds shows the amount of funds refunded to buyers during the selected date range.
- Sales tax/VAT paid by buyer (Remitted) shows any sales tax paid by the buyer that Etsy collects and remits to tax authorities.
- Any fees you've incurred related to listing, selling (i.e. transaction fees and processing fees), and deposits appear along with their fee type, along with any taxes Etsy is required to charge. Learn more about Etsy fees.
- Credits are refunds of your Etsy fees and are nested under the respective fee when you receive a fee credit.
You can calculate these fees by downloading a CSV file of your monthly statements and opening it in a spreadsheet software like Excel or Google Sheets. Learn how to download a monthly statement CSV.
Costs appear here for any shipping labels purchased on Etsy during the selected date range. If the shipping carrier has made an adjustment to the cost, if you’ve purchased shipsurance, or if you’re required to pay tax on the labels, these amounts will also appear here.
How to view your activity summaries for dates before January, 2022
To view your sales and fees from before January, 2022, select a new date range under the Activity summary. You’ll see a previous version of the Activity summary.
The Activity summary prior to January, 2022
On the Activity summary prior to January, 2022, your Sales & Credits total is your net Etsy Payments sales total for the time range selected. This is your Etsy Payments sales minus payment processing fees and taxes collected by Etsy.
The Fees & Taxes total shows your fees and taxes for the time range selected. It includes fees for listing items, receiving sales, marketing your shop, and VAT collected by Etsy on selling fees.
Download a monthly statement CSV for any month prior to January, 2022 to calculate your Sales & Credits or Fees & Taxes.
How to see your recent activities
Your Recent activities show the 30 most recent activities in your Payment account. To see all activities in your shop, view your monthly statements.
In your Recent activities, you can see the:
- Date: The date this charge or transaction took place in your local time zone.
- Type: The category of activity, like Sales, Fees, Marketing, and Shipping.
- Description: The specific activity. This can show the item sold or the activity that incurred tax or fees.
- Amount: The amount of money you made or refunded for this activity.
- Fees & Taxes: The fees or taxes incurred by an activity, such as listing an item or processing a buyer’s payment. Learn more about fees.
- Net: This is the gross amount of the sale minus fees and taxes.
- Balance: The net (sale amount minus fees and/or taxes) of the specific line item.
- Current balance: This is your running net balance of all activity in your Payment account. It may not match your Available for deposit, which may include sales not yet available for deposit. Learn when sales funds become available.
How to view your monthly statements
Your monthly statements show a summary of your funds for a particular time range. Select the time range from the dropdown.
- Sign in on Etsy.com and visit Shop Manager.
- Open Finances.
- Select Monthly statements.
- Select the month and year you're interested in.
How do I download my monthly statement or VAT credit note?
From your monthly statement, you can generate a CSV or download a VAT statement for that month by selecting Generate CSV or Download in the VAT section. If you were credited VAT during the month, you can download the Credit note by choosing Download.
Why do my older monthly statements look different?
In January, 2022, we made changes to the categorization of your fees and funds from sales in your monthly statements. Monthly statements for 2021 and prior years were not changed.
To see your Sales & Credits total, meaning your Etsy Payments sales minus payment processing fees and taxes collected by Etsy, filter the Type by Sale and sum the Net column.
For your Fees & Taxes total, filter the Type by Title. Sum the Fees & Taxes column for each type of fee.

Your payment account balance is deposited based on your deposit schedule and can take a few days to reach your bank account.
Check these topics to see if they answer your question:
For new sellers, funds from sales become available after 3 days. After 90 days from your first sale, funds become available after one day.
If you’re in the US, you may see a message in your Payment account that you need to verify your bank account to continue receiving deposits.
After you verify, you can also select Request it now in your Payment account to have your funds deposited the next day, as long as you meet any applicable deposit minimums.
There are a few reasons why you might not received a deposit when you were expecting one:
Your current balance is negative
If your current balance is negative, you won’t receive a deposit. This means that owe more fees for your Etsy shop than you made in sales.
When you use Etsy Payments, the funds from your sales first go towards paying your Etsy fees. Then, the remaining balance is deposited in your bank account on file, per your deposit schedule.
You can see the fees and service costs accrued and an itemized breakdown of your balance in your Payment account. Learn more about the Fees on Etsy. Here, you can view recent activity and scroll down to change what months you'd like to view. Choose "View all monthly statements" at the bottom to see a full list.
If your current balance is lower than you expected, check your Recent activities in your Payment account. Etsy fees as well as charges for shipping labels or Etsy Ads are taken out of your balance.
Check your card on file
To deposit your Etsy Payments funds, you need a valid credit or debit card connected to your account. Check that your card on file is correct and that you don’t have an Amount due to be paid from this card.
If you have an overdue charge, you need to manually pay that charge after you update your card.
Check your bank account on file
To deposit your sales funds, you need to have a valid bank account connected to your shop.
If you have an old bank account on file, that bank should automatically send your deposit back to your Etsy Payment account. It can take several business days for the deposit to be returned. You'll receive an email notice from Etsy once your bank returns the funds.
Update your bank on file to receive this deposit. Once the bank account is updated, Etsy Payments funds are automatically placed on hold for 5 days.
Sales tax may have applied to your order(s)
Many US states require that Etsy collect sales tax on items shipped to that state.
If your item was shipped to one of these states, Etsy collected sales tax on your behalf, regardless of your location.
After January 1, 2022, sales tax is displayed in the Activity summary of your Payment account and monthly statements.
Prior to January 1, 2022, sales tax remitted by Etsy isn’t displayed.
Sales tax remitted by Etsy isn’t currently shown in your Payment Account. The line item for an order where sales tax was collected will appear under Recent activities, and the total sales funds shown will be the order price minus sales tax collected.
You can see the sales tax for an order on the order receipt.
When you add or update your bank account, your funds will be on hold for 5 days for security purposes.
During this time, fees and services will continue to be netted from the amount in your Payment account.
Once the 5 day hold is over, your funds will be deposited to your new bank account per your deposit schedule.
You’ll be required to verify your bank details with Plaid within 30 days or your shop will be suspended.
Seller with bank account outside the US
You’ll need to verify your bank account before you can receive any funds from your sales.
If you are located outside the US and your shop was opened after March 1, 2022, you can add your bank account within 30 days after your first sale. Be sure to add your bank details within 30 days of your first sale to avoid your shop being suspended. You’re also required to verify your bank details within 60 days or your shop will be suspended.
My bank account is in a different currency from my Payment account
If your bank account is in a different currency from your Payment account currency, you can upload a bank statement for verification. We’ll review it within 5 business days.
To upload a bank statement for verification:
- On Etsy.com select Shop Manager.
- Choose Finances.
- Select Payment settings.
- Choose Update next to Bank details. You may need to confirm your current bank details on file.
- Under Bank country & currency, choose My bank account is in another currency. Note that we can only pay out in your Payment account currency..
- Select Save and upload bank statement.
- Drag and drop or select a file of your bank statement.
- Choose Submit.
- Select Save.
We’ll issue deposits in your Payment account currency, even if your bank currency is different.
My bank account is in the same currency as my Payment account
If your bank account is in the same currency as your Payment account, you’ll receive a small deposit from Etsy 2–3 business business days after you update your bank account or begin verifying your bank account after your first sale. The deposit will be processed by our third party payment partners, such as Adyen or Envoy via WorldPay.
Once you receive the small deposit in your bank account, enter the amount in your Payment settings on Etsy.
Trouble verifying a bank account
I see come back later and can’t enter the deposit amount.
- You must return later, even if you’ve received the deposit. Continue to check back each day.
- You’ll be able to enter your deposit amount on Etsy within a few days.
- Etsy Support isn’t able to remove the Come back later message.
I’m entering the amount, but Etsy says it’s wrong.
- Enter the small deposit exactly as it appears on your statement.
- Be sure you’re entering the most recent deposit.
- If you update your bank account on Etsy and check your statement soon after, you may see an outdated small deposit. Wait until you get the new small deposit. All earlier deposits will be void.
- It can take up to 5 business days after updating your bank account to receive a small deposit.
I haven’t received the small deposit
- Wait 5 business days. If you don’t see the deposit after 5 business days, enter your bank details again to have a new deposit sent to your bank account.
- If you still don’t receive the deposit, contact your bank to confirm your account details or try adding a different bank account.
I verified my bank account but I’m still suspended
- If you reach the maximum attempts to verify, or don’t verify your bank account within 60 days of updating your bank details, your shop will be suspended and you may need to contact Etsy.
- If you’ve located your small deposit and have the option to verify, do so on Etsy.com and not the Sell on Etsy app before reaching out to Etsy Support for help reinstating your shop.
- It’s not possible to verify on the Sell on Etsy app while suspended.
With Payment account reserves, a percentage of some sellers’ earnings on orders will be set aside for 45 days just in case there’s an issue with the order. This allows us to confirm that they’re able to keep up with customer demand and provide a great experience to shoppers on Etsy by shipping on time and providing excellent customer service.
If you made your first sale recently and have earnings over a certain threshold, a reserve may be placed on your Payment account. We’ll send you an email and messages in your Shop Manager to let you know if your shop is impacted.
As part of our efforts to keep Etsy secure, Etsy Support isn’t able to give you the specific reason a reserve was placed on your account.
Etsy Support agents also aren’t able to remove a reserve from your account.
As of July 1, 2021, sellers in certain countries are charged a small Regulatory Operating fee in addition to current selling costs. This fee is a percentage applied to the item price and shipping cost (including gift wrap and personalization costs, if applicable) and will vary based on seller location.
The cost of doing business in many countries has recently increased due to new regulations, such as Digital Services Tax.
